HAPPY HALLOWEEN 🎃

P3 had an exciting day celebrating Halloween in school.

We had an exciting treat planned and the children were able to go over to Belvoir Activity Center and have a bounce about on the bouncy castle and play with other fun equipment that was available for them to use.
We danced and sang to all our favourite songs at our Halloween disco and enjoyed treats, snacks, juice and tattoos from our tuck shop.

The children also dressed up in their favourite costumes. It was a great day had by all.

P3 worked very hard on these wonderful pieces of writing that they completed.

They listened to the story 'Alfie's Feet' a couple of times, as a class they came up with important facts and words that they remembered from the story, they then completed a rough draft of their writing and finally they completed their final masterpiece.

The handwriting in P3 is just beautiful!

Christmas Nativity- P3 Cast

P3 did an amazing job in their nativity 'A Bundle of Joy!'

We are so proud of all the children for taking part and singing beautifully for all that came to watch their performance. Well done, everyone!

Children's Mental Health Week

9th - 15th Febuary 2016

This years theme for children's mental health week was "This is my place"

Due to the offical dates for childrens mental health week being over a half-term break we took part in our activities the week before.

Throughout this week P3 coloured some beautiful mindfulness pictures to have some down time once they completed some work. There was also a special assembly held to talk to all the pupils about the importance of children's mental health, who children can talk to if they are experiencing any problems and to listen and dance to some of the pupils favourite songs. Our school is also introducing a super buddy system.

It Makes Sense!

P3 have worked very hard on this terms topic. They have been learning about all the five senses that we have and how how they work. At the begining of the topic as a class the children would tell us what different thing they would like to learn about each of the senses. Below are some of the questions that the children wanted answers too:-

  • Sight- How do we see? How do our eyes work? What are the different parts of the eye? Why is it blurry when I wake up?
  • Hearing- How do we hear? How do our ears work? What are the different parts if the ear? How do people that are deaf communicate?
  • Taste- How do our mouths work? How do we eat food? How do teeth grow? How do out taste buds work?
  • Smell - How does our nose work? What are all the different part of the nose? What are the different smells that we can smell.
  • Touch- How can we feel things? How did Helen Keller learning how to finger spell? What are the different textures that we can touch?

The children have also been learning all about Helen Keller and completed some wonderful independent writing on her. The writing involved all factual information about her and her life.

  • Helen was born in 1887.
  • She was deaf and blind.
  • She was taught how to finger spell.
  • She was the first deaf and blind person to go to college and get a degree.
  • Helen Keller used braille to read. The children used the braille alphabet themselves to create their names which is featured in the slideshow below. We also took them down to our assembly hall doors to touch some braille so they could experience what it feels like for themselves.

100th Day of School!

For the 100th day of school the children completed some fun numeracy tasks using a 100 square on the IWB. They also completed a 100 days of school worksheet where the children had to colour and count how many 100's they could find in the box and then create a 100 monster.
